Black Friday is Nov. 27, 2026, and Small Business Saturday is Nov. 28. In Charleston that means King Street’s stores, the Charleston City Market and its Night Market, and Marion Square’s holiday markets in December. The biggest enclosed mall nearby, Northwoods Mall in North Charleston, has already posted its holiday hours.

King Street and the City Market

King Street is downtown Charleston’s main shopping street, from national stores on Upper and Middle King to antiques and boutiques on Lower King. Our King Street guide has the blocks, parking and the Second Sunday street closures.

The Charleston City Market, between Meeting and East Bay streets, is open by day, and its Night Market of local artists and makers runs Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. through December 2026. Look for the market’s “Certified Authentic Handmade in Charleston” seal on goods made locally.

Holiday markets

  • Charleston Farmers Market holiday markets: Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13 and 19, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Marion Square, according to the market. The regular Saturday market is closed Saturday, Nov. 28.
  • Holiday Festival of Lights gift shops: Santa’s Attic and the festival’s other shops at James Island County Park are open during festival hours, 5:30 to 10 p.m. nightly from Nov. 13, according to the festival FAQ.
  • Boone Hall Christmas Tree Festival: fresh-cut trees and wreaths at Boone Hall Farms in Mount Pleasant. The 2025 festival was Nov. 22-23; 2026 dates are not on Boone Hall’s page yet.

Shopping without the kids

The city’s Recreation Department runs Drop-N-Shop at Bees Landing Recreation Center, 1580 Ashley Gardens Blvd., from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4: pizza, hot cocoa, games and a movie while parents shop, according to the city’s Fall 2026 Recreation Guide. Register through the city’s online registration.

Parking and traffic downtown

In 2025 the city offered the Holy City Holiday Park and Shop Pass: two hours of free parking for residents at four downtown garages from Nov. 26 to Dec. 31, according to its Nov. 26, 2025, notice. The garages were:

  • Saint Philip Street Garage, 34 St. Philip St.
  • Visitor Center Garage, 63 Mary St.
  • Majestic Square Garage, 211 King St.
  • Queen Street Garage, 93 Queen St.
