We list trunk-or-treats at churches, schools and neighborhood centers in Charleston once the organizer publishes the date, time and place. Organizers can send theirs through our contact page.

Safety

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Halloween food safety tips tell parents to:

  • keep children from eating anything that is not commercially wrapped
  • check wrapped treats for tears, pinholes or an unusual look, and throw away anything suspicious
  • read labels if a child has a food allergy

Daylight saving time ends the next morning, Sunday, Nov. 1, so Halloween night keeps its later sunset. A flashlight or reflective tape makes children easier for drivers to see. After heavy rain, check the city’s WaterWise page for flooded streets.

What this means for you

  • There are no official hours; follow your neighborhood’s lead on Saturday, Oct. 31.
  • The county’s Trick, Treat and Trail is the morning of Halloween; book a vehicle spot early.
  • Check treats before kids eat them.
