These CCSD schools list a Charleston mailing address in the federal NCES directory for 2023-24. Enrollment is the official count for that year. A Charleston address does not always mean the school is inside city limits, and schools on Johns Island use a Johns Island address. Each linked name opens the school’s 2025 state report card.

Ratings: the state report card
South Carolina rates every public school each year on its school report cards, with an overall rating and the measures behind it. CCSD links every school’s 2025 card from its SC report cards page. Compare a school with the district and the state, not only with its neighbors, and read past the overall rating.
Enrolling a student
Enroll at your zoned school. CCSD’s required documents page lists what to bring:
- Proof of age, such as a birth certificate or passport. A child must be 5 by Sept. 1 for kindergarten, and 4 by Sept. 1 for 4-year-old pre-K.
- A South Carolina certificate of immunization.
- One Category I residency document: a signed current lease, the latest real property tax bill, or a ratified purchase or construction contract.
- One Category II residency document: a power, gas, water, landline, cable or internet bill, a car registration, a pay stub or agency mail.
- A parent or guardian photo ID.
Families who share another household’s home can use the district’s notarized affidavit of residency (PDF). Transfers are covered on the student transfer page.
