Where it is

Cainhoy is one of the city’s six planning districts, running north along Clements Ferry Road from I-526. The City Plan says the highest ground is along Clements Ferry Road, that land drops off quickly to the south, and that the area includes “large tracts of undisturbed long-leaf pine ecosystem.” At the edges of the city’s land, it says, the Urban Growth Boundary is reinforced by the Francis Marion National Forest and the Wando River. Not all of the Cainhoy peninsula is in the city; Berkeley County’s property search shows which a parcel is in.

All of the 2,868 points we checked inside the city limits were in Berkeley County, and nearly all in ZIP code 29492. Property here is assessed and taxed by Berkeley County; see our property tax guide. The city’s neighborhood council map lists three associations: the Beresford Hall Homeowners Association, the Peninsula Homeowners Association and the Cain Crossing Neighborhood Association.
